Our homelessness charity has been working towards providing a home for homeless people since our early beginnings in 2011. The first step was opening our charity shops in Bradford, which are situated on Sunbridge Road and Cross Lane, where we now divert (and upcycle) thousands of items each year to people who need them.

This December, our homelessness charity is at the turning point of something exciting. After searching for the right building in Bradford to accommodate disadvantaged and marginalised people, we are on the verge of opening a community for homeless people.

To support the next stage in our development, we want to recruit a community support manager to oversee the care and support of what will eventually be up to 26 people, and the residential property they will call home.

About our new role

The community support manager role will live in our community, working closely with the charity beneficiaries, whom we refer to as companions, as well as our team of volunteers and management team.

The winning candidate will be well supported by Emmaus Bradford as well as a wider federation of Emmaus charities, working together as Emmaus UK. The community support manager will work in partnership with our general manager, Fran, to get our property ready to establish a community, built on the Emmaus principles of solidarity, where residents can access opportunities to rehabilitate through work, develop new skills, and prepare to move on when they’re ready.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with people management experience, who has worked in homelessness, social care, mental health, or another residential setting for people with complex needs. Someone who would relish the chance to oversee the start-up, management and development of our support service.

For the full job criteria and person specification, please visit our job vacancies page for the recruitment pack. General manager Fran is available for an informal conversation about the role. Please get in touch with fran@emmausbradford.org.uk in the first instance.

The deadline for applications is 9am Monday 20 December 2021 and shortlisted candidates will be invited for an assessment, including an interview and community visit on Friday 7 January 2022. Best of luck to our applicants. We look forward to hearing from you!
