A Yorkshire decorating supplier has donated more than 100 litres of paint to help brighten up our community building for homeless people.

Mark Wood of Turner and Wood Decorating Supplies in Yeadon even colour mixed popular shades to help our volunteers with the job of making over bedrooms and communal areas.

Emmaus Bradford became the new owners of former care home Pollard House on Pollard Lane in Undercliffe in January 2022, thanks to investment from Emmaus UK and Big Issue Invest.

Volunteers started on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th January, cleaning, painting, plastering, plumbing and wiring the 28 bed property, to get it ready for the first 8 residents to move into this year, with further DIY SOS dates on Friday 4th February and Saturday 5th February.

Donations needed

Emmaus Bradford trustee Rachel De Luca said: “It’s fantastically good to receive donations like this. Good quality paint all adds up! Thank you to everyone at Turner and Wood.

“We’re delighted by what has been coming in. We recently received a donation of paintbrushes from a customer, which have really helped.

“We’re appealing now for beds, lino flooring and carpets.”

How you can help

Emmaus Bradford is keen to hear from anyone who can help decorate, repair and maintain the multi-storey building and grounds, such as furniture and bathroom suppliers, toiletries companies, carpet stores and carpet fitters, as well as companies selling branded clothing.

We would also like to hear from anyone with expertise in properties of this size, with experience in health and safety or maintenance and repairs, for example.

Anyone interested in volunteering or joining our community can get in touch with Emmaus Bradford at emmausbradford@outlook.com or by calling 01274 945270. If you can’t support in person, please consider making a monetary contribution through our donations page.
