Can you help our Christmas Challenge by donating £20 online to us?
Emmaus Bradford is trying to raise £2,600 in online donations this Christmas. Donations will be matched by the Big Give and The Reed Foundation so that we achieve a total funding target of £7,500 towards the costs of our new community. Your donation will help local homeless people to rebuild their lives and to have a brighter future to look forward to in the New Year.

Emmaus Bradford has come along way in 2022. In January we took the keys to Pollard House, a large residential property in Bradford, and began to repair and refurbish the building to transform it into a home for homeless people. We asked Bradford people to help, and Bradford responded! Around 100 local volunteers answered our callout for help with DIY and decorating, resulting in help from individuals and local companies. These brilliant supporters included Wilfred, who walked across Bradford in the snow to offer his help as a professional painter and decorator. Local businesses and groups gave us their time, skills and materials too.
A huge thankyou goes to staff at Horton Housing, Amey, NHS England, ASDA Tech Team, the Community Payback Scheme, Steve’s Carpets and Ovenu. And we cannot thank enough the members of West Yorkshire Rotary Club for their ongoing support especially the E-Group for preparing welcome packs of toiletries and laundry materials to give to every new companion who moves in.
The first seed companions moved in in June 2022, and thanks to KeepMoat Construction were able to enjoy newly carpeted rooms, and fresh bedding donated by Tesco Peel Park, and by Homebase.
By the end of 2022, we will have 14 bedrooms ready to be slept in by people who don’t have a safe, warm or secure place to sleep this winter, supported by our team to join a community, re-discover their skills and talents, and move on to live and work independently when they are are ready.
By the end of 2023 we hope to be supporting 24 companions, to live at Pollard House, to volunteer and gain skills in our social enterprise, and to work with our Community Support Manager to achieve their goals for a brighter future.
