Emmaus Bradford threw a party this month to thank the volunteers who keep our collection and delivery services, our shops, house clearances, and our solidarity donations of household essentials flowing to where they are most needed. From PAT testing donated electricals so that we can give old washing machines and fridges a new lease of life, to collecting furniture and furnishings in all shapes and sizes, to being a trustee and helping the charity to grow and develop. Our volunteers are incredible and work really hard to divert thousands of items from landfill to people who need them, whether at low cost or free of charge.
Santa visited the party to give volunteers hand-chosen pre-loved gifts, proving that second-hand is not second best. The evening involved Mary’s quiz, Babil’s delicious curry and Sofina’s very special cake.
Fran Graham, General Manager said: “We make Emmaus Bradford together, and the party was another great example of what’s possible when people help each other. Thankyou to the 30 people regularly giving their time here to reduce homelessness and increase reuse. We really appreciate our volunteers and we hope they know they really are making a difference.”
If you’d like to volunteer with Emmaus Bradford please drop in to the shops or contact emmausbradford@outlook.com. The charity urgently needs volunteer van assistants and shop assistants to help with sorting and PAT testing at the Cross Lane and Sunbridge Road shops.
