Our Chief Executive Officer, Donna Talbot, was delighted to receive a donation of 48 laptops for our community from AVEVA’s local offices.
Donna was invited to join Richard Hobson, Business Partner of AVEVA Solutions Ltd, and his colleagues for their Action for Good day last Wednesday (4 June), an event where employees come together to make a positive difference to important local causes.
They certainly have made a difference to Emmaus Cambridge as their generous donation of laptops will be made available for companion, volunteer and staff use, as well as people in our community who we support through solidarity packages.
“Hugely generous gift”
Commenting on her visit to AVEVA, Donna said: “On arrival at their Milton site I got to meet the team and talk about the work of Emmaus Cambridge. It was great to receive so many questions about the causes of homelessness and the way in which we support people to move forward.
“I was also asked what difference this donation would make to us. I can firmly say that with the roll out of digital platforms, access to online training and a host of new desk-based tasks, the timing of this hugely generous gift couldn’t have been better!
“When we were first invited, it was suggested that we may be given approximately 20 laptops, which would have been an incredible number in its own right. However, on the day I was astounded to receive 48. We are immensely grateful as we will now be able to support even more people in our community with tools to help address the digital gap.”
Donna added: “Thank you to all at AVEVA, especially Richard Hobson, Oliver Ryan and the team present on the day, as well as those who collected the equipment in advance. So many people will benefit as a response to your generosity.”
The laptops were donated by staff or were unused items of corporate equipment. All were sorted, cleaned and installed with new operating systems during the day.
Action for Good
AVEVA’s Action for Good is an employee-driven initiative inspired by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The company pledges to provide £1 million to support good causes around the world through a combination of corporate donations, match-funding employee sponsorships, and paid time off.
