A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day in traditional British style!

Our staff and visitors to Joan’s Coffee Shop dressed in 1940s outfits to mark the historic milestone held on Thursday, May 8th, and they looked very dapper indeed!

It was a case of chocks away for our team who got busy serving our customers with some traditional afternoon and cream teas, as well as some firm British favourites, like the much-loved full English breakfast.

VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, commemorates the surrender of German forces to the Allied powers at the end of World War II, a momentous day for the whole of the continent.

As well as 1940s dress, we decorated the coffee shop with lots of red, white and blue bunting and played some 1940s music to add to the atmosphere. It really was a chance to step right back and celebrate this historic day in the most appropriate way!

A huge thanks to our Catering Manager, Darren, and his team for making it a day to remember in Joan’s Coffee Shop in memory of our service men and women whose brave sacrifices led to this landmark victory.
