Please join Emmaus Cornwall for a volunteering session to collect tree seeds at the beautiful and peaceful Trewithen Gardens. No past experience is necessary! Meet like-minded people, enjoy the great outdoors, and help our charity’s brand-new Community Tree Nursery at Trewoon.
We will stratify and plant the collected seeds at our tree nursery, which will eventually be home to hundreds of native broadleaf trees thanks to the help of our volunteers. The money from the sale of trees will go towards opening our residential community in Cornwall to support people out of homelessness.
We will be holding our volunteering sesssions for seed collecting every Wednesday, starting from Wednesday 28 September until the end of November.
Please note we will not be running a session on Wednesday 5 October.
Trewithen Gardens in the cark park at 10am on your desired Wednesday. The address is Grampound Road, Near Truro, Cornwall, TR2 4DD.
Free car parking is available.
We will spend the morning touring the estate and collecting seeds. Gardeners from Trewithen will be accompanying and guiding us. The sessions are variable, meaning there is no set end time. We will go for as long as we can (our last one was a couple of hours) and volunteers are welcome to stay for any length of time.
Please wear strong shoes and suitable clothing. Trewithen Gardens is disabled-friendly, has level paths and toilets. We will decide our walking route on the day of each session to accommodate the needs of all our volunteers. Please also bring water/soft drinks with you, and you may want to consider bringing some snacks in case you get hungry as we walk! The on-site café at Trewithen Gardens will be open and sells a range of dishes made with local produce (perfect for a treat after volunteering!).
