We’d like to say a huge thank you to Abingdon Beds – they have supported us for a whole year, and continue to do so.
The company do not re-sell customer returns, so for the past 12 months have instead offered them to be collected by Emmaus Oxford. This generous offer helps to keep our charity’s store in Cowley well stocked with quality beds, raising vital funds to support formerly homeless people.
Abingdon Beds is one of Oxfordshire’s oldest independent bed stores. Business owners Gareth and Ashley Alsworth were inspired to offer help after a relative ended up homeless.
Gareth said: “When a member of our family found herself living on the streets, it really hit home how easily it can happen to anyone. We grew up in the Oxford area so we wanted to do something to help tackle homelessness locally. We were so pleased when we realised Emmaus can raise money from our unwanted beds.”
It always means so much when people in our local community pull together to help Emmaus. We visit regularly to collect their latest returned items and always leave with quality beds and mattresses which would otherwise have been sent to the tip. Instead, our charity store customers get a bargain and we’re able to raise more funds to help us continue changing the lives of previously homeless people.
