We’re set to reopen our doors after a 15-week closure due to the Covid-19 shutdown and preparing to welcome customers back to our store in Cowley on Monday 12 April from 9.30am – 5pm.
More than half of our income usually comes from the sale of donated items in the Emmaus store on Barns Road. For every week closed during lockdown, we have been losing valuable income that is used to provide accommodation, food, and support to help people rebuild their lives after being homeless.
As well as providing vital funds for the charity, our store offers work experience, training, and a sense of purpose for the people we supports and is key in helping people regain their confidence and self-esteem.
During the shutdown period, our team sold items online, refurbished our shop, and prepared our retail space to ensure the safety of our customers.
Jaime Dodson, Retail Manager at Emmaus Oxford, said:
“We are delighted to be reopening our store and welcoming back our supporters. Our store is a fantastic resource for anyone in need of quality affordable items, anyone wanting to embark on an upcycling project, or for people who want to shop responsibly, buy second-hand, and look after our environment.
“We have followed advice from the Government and Charity Retail Association to implement measures to keep everyone safe. These include limiting the number of customers at any one time, installing markings and signs throughout our shops and hand sanitiser stations at all entrance doors.”
Our store stocks a wide range of second-hand furniture, white goods, electrical items, clothing, books, upcycled items and bric-a-brac. We will be accepting good quality donations from Tuesday 13 April and will resume our free collection service for larger items from Monday 19 April.
To book a collection or find out more about donating in store, call the Emmaus Oxford store on 01865 763698.
Emmaus Oxford store is located at 242 Barns Road, OX4 3RQ. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
