Guy Goodwin has been volunteering with Emmaus Oxford for two years as a part time driver. He worked as a teacher for 25 years and is from Oxford.
Here’s what he had to say about volunteering for Emmaus:
“I decided to look for some driving work and noticed the ad for Emmaus Oxford. I researched the charity and the support it gives to the companions and thought it sounded appealing.
One of the best things about volunteering is working with the companions, seeing the difference that Emmaus makes to them. It’s also really interesting seeing the wide variety of items that people donate and it’s great that Emmaus can give people’s furniture a new home and stop it going to landfill.
If I had to describe my volunteering experience in three words I would say: enlightening, positive and satisfying.”
