View from a Lens is an upcoming photography exhibition by Emmaus Salford volunteer, Chris Lord. The event takes place on 25 February 2023 at Emmaus Salford Emporium on 162-170 Partington Lane, Swinton, Salford, M27 0WN.
Chris has been taking pictures as a hobby for many years and has captured some fantastic images from around the globe. When thinking about how she could fundraise for Emmaus Salford, people suggested she sell some of her photography and this is how View from a Lens was borne.
Chris said:
“I have always been interested in Art but I became really interested in photography when I first lived in Southern Ireland. In particular photographing the Hen Harrier which was a protected bird , also the many dragonflies, rare butterflies, mushrooms and plant life on the bog land and around the lakes, its just what I love.
I have travelled a lot and always enjoyed taking photographs of people, landscapes, plants and animals. Taking a good photo is a great feeling.
My relationship with Emmaus Salford started a few years ago when I took a small piece of furniture I had upcycled back to the shop. The community director was there and when she saw what I had done, she asked if I would be interested in doing some more upcycling for Emmaus.
I love the Emmaus charity and how it supports their companions and helps them to improve their lives. I have done some fundraising for Emmaus and love the fact that it goes to such a good cause.
Clicking the shutter is a great feeling, but it’s more important to click with people.”
Not only is Chris selling her range of fantastic photography, but she is also selling a number of upcycled pieces of furniture. From decoupaged tables, to stencilled chairs and units, around 12 items will be on sale.
