Emmaus Salford is keen to highlight the continued support of Blue Cross and Pets at Home in providing much-needed pet food donations for Lucie’s Pantry, the charity’s social supermarket. This partnership, which began with an initial meeting between Blue Cross and Pets at Home‘s community engagement teams, has played a crucial role in supporting pet owners facing financial difficulties.

The collaboration initially kicked off with donations collected from the Pets at Home store in Trafford. Over time, the partnership evolved, with Blue Cross and Pets at Home providing vouchers worth over £100, allowing Emmaus Salford to purchase pet food directly from Pets at Home for Lucie’s pantry customers. Most recently, the charity received another generous donation of pet food.

Lucie’s Pantry is a social supermarket set up by Emmaus Salford to help people who are struggling to make ends meet, by providing low-cost food and household items to individuals and families who may be struggling to afford essential supplies.

Amy Angus, Head of Charity and Community at the Pets Foundation (established by Pets at Home, says “Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have been able to provide pet food to countless animals and their families in need. Every donation, no matter how small, has made a significant impact on the lives of these pets and their owners. We are grateful for the support of our partners the Blue Cross and Emmaus Salford’s Lucie’s Pantry, and to the volunteers, and donors, who have helped us to alleviate the burden on pet owners who may be struggling financially. Knowing that these donations are helping to keep families together is incredibly heartwarming.”

Emmaus Salford has seen a consistent demand for pet food through Lucie’s pantry, particularly from community members who are fostering dogs from local rescue organisations. While the demand has increased, the support provided by Blue Cross and Pets at Home has been a lifeline for pet owners during difficult times.

“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support from Blue Cross and Pets at Home,” said Jackie Smith, Chief Executive at Emmaus Salford. “These donations have made a significant difference in the lives of those who rely on Lucie’s Pantry to care for their beloved pets. While we haven’t always had the resources to actively seek out stock, the contributions we have received have been invaluable to our community.”

Kath Urwin, Services Project Lead at Blue Cross, said: “We’re delighted to be helping owners to stay with their beloved pets through our donations of pet food as we know times are tough for people.

“With winter coming up, we know there may be more who are worried about affording to care for themselves and their pet so we want families to know that help is available.”

Emmaus Salford encourages continued support and collaboration to ensure that pet owners in need can continue to access essential supplies for their animals. For further information or to make a donation, please contact Emmaus Salford or visit their website: www.emmaus.pleasecheck.me/salford
